Silicon Grassfields ("we", "us", "our") is a technology community based in Bamenda, North West Region, Cameroon. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the website or submitting a form, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, plus limited technical data needed to run the site:

• Membership applications — your name, contact details, location, skills, interests, links to professional profiles and any other answers you provide on the Join form.
• Contact and program enquiries — your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the content of your message, including bootcamp, hackathon and testimonial submissions sent through our contact form.
• Job applications — your name, contact details, profile links, cover letter and the CV file you upload.
• Event registrations — your name, contact details and the event you register for.
• Technical data — standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) used for security and to keep the site working.

How we use your information

• To review and respond to applications, enquiries and registrations.
• To run our programs, events and community activities, and to contact you about them.
• To forward job applications to the employer that posted the role you applied for.
• To publish member profiles or testimonials only where you have asked us to or agreed to it.
• To protect the website against spam, abuse and security threats.

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing your information

We share personal information only when needed: with employers for the jobs you apply to, with program partners or mentors when this is part of a program you joined, with service providers who host the website or deliver email on our behalf, or when required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep information only for as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected for — for example, for the duration of a program or recruitment process — and then delete or anonymise it. Uploaded CVs are deleted when they are no longer needed for the application.

Cookies

This website uses a small number of essential cookies: a session cookie and a security (CSRF) token cookie that keep forms working and protect them from abuse. We do not use advertising cookies. Fonts and icons are loaded from third-party content delivery networks, which may receive your IP address as part of delivering those files. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some forms may not work without them.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No website can be completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your request.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, by emailing hello@silicongrassfields.com or using our contact form.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
